A guaranteed change of scenery in the "heart of town," nestled in a magnificent natural setting! A spacious, charming, contemporary-style holiday cottage tucked away within an authentic, characterful traditional home from 1910 that has been carefully restored—featuring a beautiful Piscine (8x4m)—set on enclosed grounds in the heart of the peaceful and picturesque little village of Dompierre-les-Ormes (boasting small shops including a mini-market, home to the exceptional Pézanin Arboretum as well as the renowned “Lab71,” a departmental discovery center for sustainable development and science), 10 km from the charming market town of Matour, designated a "Station verte de vacances" (offering numerous amenities including a small supermarket and an outstanding range of recreational facilities). A sublime rural and natural setting surrounded by gentle, unspoiled mountains, combining bucolic rolling countryside and vast wild forests, nestled in the heart of the Haut-Clunysois countryside (the “Little Switzerland of the Mâconnais,” protected as a "Natura 2000 Zone" for its remarkable ecosystems), nestled in the "Verts Vallons" of Southern Burgundy, overlooking the lush Grosne Valley facing the northern Beaujolais massif (and its vast marked “mountain biking area” crisscrossing the massif) as an extension of the sumptuous neighboring scenic gem of the Roches de Solutré & Vergisson, designated a “Grand Site de France” (located 33 km away), very close to Mont Saint-Cyr (the highest point in southern Burgundy at 771 m), as well as the iconic Butte de Suin. Along the routes of the "Cycloroute71" (Tour de Saône-et-Loire by bike) and numerous marked hiking trails, including a "green trail" (numerous similar paths crisscrossing the area, suitable for hiking or mountain biking), not far from the Romanesque church circuit, 3.5 km from the GR7, 18 km from the "Grande Boucle de Bourgogne du Sud" Greenway (& the remarkable "Bois Clair Tunnel," formerly the longest railway tunnel in France, now open as a Greenway at 1.6 km), 21 km from the renowned GTM mountain bike trail certified "VTT FFC" ("Grand Tour du Massif Sud Bourgogne," connected to a vast network of similarly marked mountain bike trails crisscrossing the massif), about 20 km from the Mâconnais Vineyards ("Burgundy Wine Route" to explore) & about 30 km from the Beaujolais Vineyards (the world’s first Vineyard recognized as a "UNESCO Global Geopark" / various wine routes to discover). At the southern tip of Burgundy, on the edge of the Mâconnais region, at the crossroads of the Clunisois-Tournugeois (designated a "Land of Art and History") & the Charollais-Brionnais region (designated a "Land of Art and History"), a land of livestock farming and traditions, and the birthplace of the world-renowned AOC beef breed. Ideal for exploring the region (RCEA access 4.5 km away): 20 km from La Clayette, 21 km from the illustrious abbey town of Cluny, 22 km from Charolles, 35 km from Mâcon (Mâcon-Loché TGV station 34 km away), 36 km from Beaujeu (historic capital of the Beaujolais region), 36 km from Paray-le-Monial, 40 km from the charming town of Charlieu, 41 km from the lovely medieval village of Semur-en-Brionnais, which holds the rare "Most Beautiful Villages of France" designation, and 45 km from Marcigny. The perfect spot for a relaxing getaway in the countryside with plenty to discover as a small group, plus the bonus of lounging and sunbathing by the Piscine!
