Charming traditional 19th-century stable carefully restored & re-enchanted as a charming holiday home - set in a pleasant 200m² enclosed garden with terrace - nestled in a quiet, picturesque village, 5 km from the illustrious abbey town of Cluny (one of Burgundy's most beautiful pearls, (one of Burgundy's most beautiful gems, world-renowned, with the prestigious "European Heritage" label / all amenities on site, including supermarkets), 9 km from Taizé (& its famous religious community) & 11 km from the charming, typical market town of Cormatin (renowned for its sumptuous 17th-century château, one of Burgundy's most prestigious). Soothing tranquility in the heart of the Cluny Countryside, nestled in a bucolic valley of meadows, a stone's throw from a vast wild Forest, overlooking the Grosne valley (verdant bocage with its meandering river full of fish), in a vast natural area protected as a Zone Natura 2000 & ZNIEFF (for its rich ecosystems), facing the wooded foothills of the wild and unspoilt South Burgundy massif, bordering the first vineyards of the Mâconnais (including the famous "Val Lamartinien", named after the illustrious host of the site), not far from the vineyards of the Côtes Chalonnaises and Beaujolais (the first vineyard in the world to be recognized as a UNESCO World Geopark). An ultra-privileged Location on the route of several signposted footpaths, including a "balade verte" (a vast network of hiking trails of the same type, to be discovered in the surrounding area on foot or mountain bike) & the GR76, connected to the famous GR "Chemin de Cluny" (ViaCluny) and the mythical "Chemin des Moines" (linking the abbeys of Cîteaux and Cluny), adjoining the Romanesque church circuit & the "Route des Vins de Bourgogne" (extended by the "Route des Grands Vins"), 2 km from the Voie Verte of the "Grande Boucle de la Bourgogne du Sud" (& its remarkable "Tunnel du Bois Clair" accessible at 10 km, France's longest former railway tunnel open to a Voie Verte at 1.6 km) adjoining the "Cycloroute71" (Tour de la Saône-et-Loire by bike), 2 km from the famous GTM mountain bike circuit with "VTT FFC" label (Grand Tour du Massif Sud Bourgogne connected to a vast network of identical signposted trails criss-crossing the South Burgundy massif "en étoiles") & 17 km from the renowned Mont Saint-Romain downhill mountain bike track. Right in the heart of the Tournugeois-Clunisois (labelled "Pays d'Art et d'Histoire"), at the crossroads of the Mâconnais, Chalonnais & Charolais-Brionnais (labelled "Pays d'Art et d'Histoire"), not far from the Ain department & Bresse Bourguignonne. 21 km from the medieval village of Saint-Gengoux-le-National (classified as a "Cités de Caractère de Bourgogne-Franche-Comté"), 22 km from Lugny ("the little capital of the Haut-Mâconnais", leading producer of Burgundy wines), 23 km from the medieval town of Brancion, 27 km from the landscape gem of the Roches de Solutré & Vergisson, classified as a "Grand Site de France", 28 km from Mâcon (Mâcon Loché TGV station 26 km away), 32 km from Tournus, 36 km from Charolles, 46 km from Chalon-sur-Saône (labelled "City of Art and History"), 40 km from "Hameau Dubœuf" (1st vine & wine theme park in Europe), 45 km from Beaujeu (historic capital of Beaujolais) & 47 km from Vonnas (gastronomic & gourmet village of Georges Blanc). Peace and quiet in the heart of the Cluny Countryside, nestled in the heart of a charming, typical, unspoilt village set in an amphitheatre, on a site steeped in history (site of the Château de Lourdon, the first deanery-castle of the abbots of Cluny, whose remains date back to the 11th century), in the hollow of a bucolic valley of wooded meadows just a stone's throw from a vast, wild Forest. Annie Lovely rustic gite in pleasant surroundings
We had a lovely few days here exploring the surrounding area. The gite was comfortable with everything we needed and Julienne the host was there to greet us and available at all times. We would highly recommend it.
