Exceptional location 7 km from the illustrious abbey town of Cluny (all amenities on site), nestled "sur la Voie Verte" at the foot of the majestic Berzé fortress, Burgundy's priceless medieval treasure dating back to the 10th century! Delightful authentic late 19th-century "maison de garde-barrière" (gatekeeper's house) - steeped in history & completely revisited as a very comfortable holiday home - nestled on the edge of meadows, in the heart of the bucolic vineyards of the "Val Lamartinien" (named after the famous native French poet and writer / first vineyards 300m away). Magnificent, unspoilt countryside, nestled in a verdant valley of meadows, vineyards & forests, in the wooded foothills of the southern Burgundy massif, in a protected "Natura 2000" area (for its rich ecosystem), facing the northern Beaujolais massif & the sumptuous landscape jewel of the Roches de Solutré & Vergisson "Grand Site de France" (13 km away). Ideally located on the routes of the voie verte (just a stone's throw from the renowned "Tunnel du Bois Clair", a former railway tunnel, the longest in France open to a Voie Verte at 1.6 km), the Romanesque churches circuit, the "Route des Vins de Bourgogne", the GR76 & a signposted "balade verte" footpath (a very rich network of similar footpaths, accessible from the surrounding area, winding through vineyards & nature), 6 km from the renowned GMT mountain bike itinerary (Grand Tour du Massif Sud Bourgogne / vast signposted mountain bike area covering the 2 surrounding massifs) & 8 km from a 17 km "boucle vélo coup de cœur". Ultra-privileged location in the heart of the Mâconnais & Clunisois-Tournugeois (labelled "Pays d'Art et d'Histoire") nestled at the very southern tip of the Mâconnais mountains on the borders of the Haut Beaujolais (many vineyards to explore), at the crossroads of Bresse & the Rhône & Ain departments. Ideal location for easy access (RCEA 7 km / A6 15 km): 15 km from Mâcon (Mâcon Loché TGV station 15 km away), 28 km from Touroparc Zoo, 40 km from Tournus, 41 km from Beaujeu (historic capital of Beaujolais), 41 km from Charolles, 43 km from La Clayette & 51 km from Villefranche-sur-Saône (labeled "Ville d'Art & d'Histoire"). The perfect cocoon for a green getaway full of pleasures & for all bike lovers!

Description 2026, subject to modifications for 2027: Please refer to the description sheet validated at the time of booking.

Paul, a cycling enthusiast and "professional of the trade" whose services you'll appreciate during your stay (instructor, guide, hire & repairer all rolled into one), and Claire open the doors of a charming, authentic, late-19th-century "gatekeeper's house" steeped in history & carefully revisited as a gentle holiday retreat, nestled in the calm of the Cluny & Mâcon countryside on the edge of a bucolic wooded meadow, once adjacent to the Cluny-Mâcon railroad line (in service from 1870 to 1968) now transformed into a "voie verte" (cycle route which passes in front of the gîte). Magnificent, unspoilt surroundings, nestled in a verdant valley beneath the wooded ridges of a vast, wild forest classified & protected as a "Natura 2000 Zone" for its remarkable ecosystem, just a stone's throw from the first vineyards of the "Val Lamartinien" and very close to the picturesque village of Berzé-le-Châtel, famous for its majestic 10th-century medieval fortress (visible in the background), an exceptional Burgundy heritage gem (sumptuous château-fort with 14 towers, a Carolingian chapel and several "French" & "English" gardens). Spacious, comfortable gîte. Warm country style with contemporary accents. Zen & soft atmosphere. Cosy & cozy. Lots of charm. Large terrace overlooking meadows, shaded by two imposing ash trees. Pleasant, grassy, planted small garden with unobstructed views of the surrounding countryside.
Composition : Detached house on 2 levels. Wifi connection. Electric heating + wood-burning stove. Ground floor: living room-kitchen (sofa bed 2 p. 140x190cm), separate toilet. 1st floor: 2 bedrooms (bed 2 p. 160x2000cm / 2 beds 1 p. 80x200cm twinable in bed 2 p. 160x200cm), bathroom (shower), independent Wc. Terrace + small garden + bike room + private parking. All amenities 7 km away. Please note: 2 bicycles provided free of charge.
