100% Unusual & literally out of the ordinary! Delightful authentic "maison éclusière" dating from the end of the 18th century - steeped in history & completely revisited as a sweet holiday home - nestled on the banks of the famous Canal du Centre at the site of a lock still in operation (totally secure), 2.5 km from the picturesque nautical & shopping village of Genelard (amenities on site, including supermarket) & 15 km from Montceau-les-Mines, a historic mining town now fully focused on cultural & outdoor activities (river Marina & all amenities on site). Mini rural hamlet nestled in the verdant Bourbince valley (protected under ZNIEFF for its wealth of flora & fauna), at the crossroads of the Creusot countryside & northern Charolais, a bucolic hilly setting combining agriculture & nature, between magnificent local bocage, Forest, rivers & ponds (partly protected under various "Zones Natura 2000" for the quality of its ecosystems). Ideally located on the Romanesque church circuit, close to numerous signposted "balades vertes" footpaths (a vast network of hiking trails of the same type to be discovered in the area), 4 km from EuroVélo6 (signposted cycle route connected to the Voie Verte along the Canal du Centre), 12 km from a 43 km "boucle vélo coup de cœur", 19 km of the legendary GTMC (Grande Traversée du Massif Central) mountain bike circuit, 19 km of the "Véloire" greenway (running alongside the Loire, Europe's last "wild river" protected as a "Natura 2000 Zone") and some 30 kms (equidistance) from the first vineyards of the Côtes Mâconnaises & Côtes Chalonnaises ("Routes des Vins de Bourgogne" & "Route des Grands Vins" to explore). Prime central location, on the edge of the sublime, unspoilt Charolais-Brionnais region (cradle of the world-renowned AOC cattle & sheep breeds), with its sumptuous landscapes, renowned gastronomy and exceptional historical heritage (labelled "Pays d'Art et d'Histoire"), at the crossroads of Autunois-Morvan, Chalonnais, not far from Mâconnais & Clunisois-Tournugeois (labelled "Pays d'Art et d'Histoire"). Ideal location for exploring: 20 km from Charolles, 22 km from Paray-le-Monial, 23 km from the medieval town of Mont-Saint-Vincent, 29 km from Digoin (river marina at the convergence of 3 canals), 35 km from Le Creusot (famous Les Combes amusement park / Le Creusot TGV station 31 km away), 45 km from the medieval spa town of Bourbon-Lancy (casino on site), 47 km from the illustrious abbey town of Cluny & 49 km from Marcigny.
