Magnificent setting & landscaped site perched on a hillside in the heart of the "Verts vallons de Sud Bourgogne"! Comfortable bed and breakfast in a carefully restored 19th-century barn full of character, nestled in a peaceful rural hamlet in the heart of the Countryside, 7 km from the charming, typical market town of Matour, which has been awarded the "Station Verte de Vacances" label (with its many amenities, including a mini supermarket, as well as a remarkable range of sports and leisure facilities). Absolute tranquility in the heart of a magnificent, unspoilt mountain setting (the "Little Switzerland of the Mâconnais"), on the immediate edge of a vast area protected as a "Natura 2000 Zone" (for the quality of its rich ecosystem), nestling in the verdant Grosne valley in the wooded foothills of the northern Beaujolais massif (home to a vast, signposted mountain-biking area, with "VTT FFC" accreditation), as an extension of the neighbouring landscape gem of the Roches de Solutré & Vergisson, awarded the "Grand Site de France" label (24 km away), bordering Saint-Cyr Mountain (the highest point in southern Burgundy), the vineyards of Beaujolais (the world's first vineyard to be recognized as a "UNESCO World Geopark") & Mâconnais (including the famous "Val Lamartinien", named after the famous French poet & writer who hosted the site) and the various wine routes to be explored ("Route des Vins de Bourgogne" & "Route des Vins du Beaujolais"). A choice location on the route of a number of signposted "balades vertes" hiking trails (3 starting from the village, linked to a vast network of similar hiking trails criss-crossing the region, which can be explored on foot or mountain bike), 5 km from the GR7, 6.5 km from the GR76, 7 km from the "Cycloroute 71" (cycling tour of Saône-et-Loire), 19 km from the "Grande Boucle de Bourgogne du Sud" Voie Verte (& its remarkable "Tunnel du Bois Clair" at 22 km, France's longest former railway tunnel open to a Voie Verte at 1.6 km) & 23 km from the renowned GTM ("Grand Tour du Massif Sud Bourgogne") mountain bike trail. Privileged location on the border of the Rhône département, at the crossroads of the Clunisois-Tournugeois (labelled "Pays d'Art et d'Histoire"), the Mâconnais & the Haut Beaujolais bordering the Charollais-Brionnais (labelled "Pays d'Art et d'Histoire"), not far from the Ain. Ideal for exploring several départements: 21 km from Beaujeu (historic capital of Beaujolais), 22 km from La Clayette, 23 km from the illustrious abbey town of Cluny, 34 km from Mâcon (A6 & A40 access / Mâcon Loché TGV station 31 km away), 39 km from Charolles, 42 km from Charlieu, 47 km from Marcigny ("Site Clunisois" renowned for its Monday morning Market created in 1266), 48 km from Paray-le-Monial (the city of the "sacred heart") & 49 km from Villefranche-sur-Saône. A choice refuge for a soothing "breath of fresh air", whether you're on the road or looking for a longer break!
