A soothing little corner of the Countryside in the heart of the sublime Brionnais bocage, just a stone's throw from one of Saône-et-Loire's most iconic villages! An authentic, charming, traditional 18th-century farmhouse, steeped in history & fully restored, nestled in the peace and quiet on the edge of gentle pastures, in the hollow of a small "dispersed" rural hamlet, on the edge of the typical & commercial village of Saint-Christophe-en-Brionnais, emblematic for its famous weekly "Market aux Bestiaux" dating from the end of the 15th century (one of the oldest in France, a literal spectacle in itself dedicated to the local Charolais star!) & 10 km from the shopping town of La Clayette (many local amenities including supermarkets), nestling amphitheatrically on the banks of a 30-hectare lake bordered by a majestic medieval château (dating from 1380), one of South Burgundy's heritage gems! Total peace & quiet in the heart of the Countryside, a magnificently preserved setting combining agriculture & nature (protected as a ZNIEFF for its rich ecosystems), nestled in a vast plateau of bucolic wooded meadows, dotted with ponds & rivers. Ideally located on the routes of numerous signposted footpaths, including several "balades vertes" (a vast network of similar hiking trails to be explored on foot or by mountain bike) & the "Cycloroute71" (tour of the Saône-et-Loire region), very close to the Romanesque church circuit, 5 km from a signposted "VTT-FFC" mountain bike itinerary (part of a vast network of similar routes criss-crossing the Brionnais region), 16 km from the Voie Verte "Véloire" along the banks of the Loire (Europe's last wild river, protected as a "Natura 2000 Zone"), 25 km from the Voie Verte du Canal du Centre (linked to the EuroVélo6 cycle route and the "Tour de Bourgogne à Vélo"), about 40 km from the first vineyards of the Beaujolais (first vineyard in the world to be recognized as a "UNESCO World Geopark") and the Cotes Roannaises & about 50 km from the Côtes Mâconnaises ("Route des Vins de Bourgogne" & "Route des Vins du Beaujolais" to explore). Privileged location at the southern tip of Burgundy, not far from the first wooded foothills of the Beaujolais Mountains (including the legendary Mountain de Dun, 708m high), in the heart of the superb Charolais-Brionnais region, which has been awarded the "Pays d'Art et d'Histoire" label - a land of livestock farming and traditions, cradle of the world-renowned AOC cattle breed - at the crossroads of the Allier, Loire & Rhône departments, at the crossroads of Sologne & Mountain Bourbonnaise, Pays Roannais, Mâconnais-Clunisois and Beaujolais. Perfectly located to cover several départements: 11 km from the medieval village of Semur-en-Brionnais, which has been awarded the rare "Plus beaux villages de France" label, 15 km from Marcigny (famous Monday morning market created in 1266), 18 km from Charlieu, 18 km from Chauffailles, 24 km from Paray-le-Monial, 25 km from Charolles, 33 km from Digoin (river Marina at the convergence of 3 famous canals, including the famous Canal du Centre), 39 km from Roanne, 43 km from Beaujeu (historic capital of Beaujolais) & 54 km from the illustrious abbey town of Cluny. An ideal haven of peace & rest for a relaxing "green escape" & "timeless break" with family or friends!

Description 2026, subject to modifications for 2027: Please refer to the description sheet validated at the time of booking.

Anne-Marie & Philippe, passionate ambassadors of their "country" (born in the house!) welcome you to a charming, traditional 18th-century Brionnais farmhouse, steeped in history & fully restored, nestled in the calm of a typical rural hamlet, agricultural & residential, on the outskirts of the village of St-Christophe-en-Brionnais (small shops on site), emblematic for its iconic Wednesday "cattle market" dating from the late 15th century, one of the oldest in France. Absolute tranquility & a literal "postcard setting" nestled in unspoilt rolling Countryside (protected as a ZNIEFF for its wealth of flora & fauna), on the edge of pastures (home in season to the famous Charolais cows), in the hollow of a bucolic bocage plateau. An absolutely enchanting, beautifully landscaped setting. A haven of peace and rest, totally soothing and relaxing. Comfortable Holiday cottage with a touch of vintage charm. "Soft rusticity", totally exotic, in dialogue with a meticulous heritage restoration (fireplace mantels, stone lintels & old sink, Unusual "oeil de bœuf", arch of an old oven, period beams...). Vast exposed courtyard (a real "natural petanque ground") with terrace area, opening onto a pleasant garden with trees, swing, table tennis table & a small vegetable garden tended by the owners (without their presence during your stay). Superb unobstructed views over the surrounding Countryside.
Composition : Detached house. Wifi (fiber). Electric heating + wood stove. Ground floor: kitchen, living room, bathroom (shower), separate toilet, laundry room. 1st floor: 3 bedrooms (bed 2 p. 140x190cm / 2 beds 1 p. 90x190cm / bed 2 p. 140x190cm), bathroom (shower/Wc). 800m² grounds (courtyard & garden) + garage (1 space / bike room) + private parking. Small grocery store 1.5 km away. Amenities including supermarkets 10 km away.
