A comfortable holiday cottage set within an elegant, historic 16th-century château, rich in history and carefully restored — nestled in a vast, well-maintained, enclosed park covering 1 hectare — 3.5 km from the charming, traditional, and bustling village of Charnay-Lès-Mâcon (all amenities available locally) and 7 km from Mâcon, the southernmost city in Burgundy. A quiet residential hamlet nestled in the heart of the Countryside at the very southern tip of the Mâconnais Mountains and on the edge of the Upper Beaujolais region, in the heart of the renowned “Val Lamartinien” Vineyard (named after the famous French poet and writer; the first vines were planted here), nestled between the very first foothills of the southern Burgundy massif and the magnificent neighboring scenic gem of the Roches de Solutré & Vergisson, designated a “Grand Site de France” (located 5 km away). A splendid rural and wine-growing setting surrounded by gently rolling mountains (partly classified and protected as a “Natura 2000” site), rich in sublime panoramas and landscapes, to be discovered on walks or bike rides (a vast network of marked mountain bike trails to explore across both mountain ranges, including the nearby Grand Tour du Massif Sud Bourgogne). Prime location along a marked hiking trail designated as a “green trail” (connected to an extensive network of similar hiking trails winding through vineyards and the great outdoors in the surrounding area), 800 meters from the greenway, adjacent to the “Burgundy Wine Route” (Mâconnais-Beaujolais) and the Romanesque churches circuit. An exceptionally prime location at the junction of the Rhône and Ain departments, where the Mâconnais and Beaujolais regions meet (with numerous Vineyards to explore), the Clunisois-Tournugeois region (designated a “Pays d’Art et d’Histoire”) and the Bresse de l’Ain. Ideal for exploring the surrounding area (RCEA 3.5 km away / A6 6.5 km away): 5.5 km from the Mâcon Loché TGV station, 17 km from the illustrious abbey town of Cuny, 18 km from the renowned Touroparc Zoo, 35 km from Tournus (a world-famous abbey site), 36 km from Beaujeu (the historic capital of the Beaujolais region), 41 km from Villefranche-sur-Saône, and 49 km from Charolles. A perfect “base” located just a stone’s throw from major roads and all amenities, for an incredibly rejuvenating romantic getaway!
