La Maison du Haut

"It's no coincidence that the Maison du Haut bears this name. To reach the heights of the Bordes hamlet, you'll have to cross the valley and its typical Revermont villages. At the end of a country lane, you'll arrive at the edge of the forest in front of a large yellow stone building surrounded by trees and greenery - a true haven of peace!
Aurélie warmly welcomes hikers, riders and all nature lovers to her gîte d'étape, which also has a campsite where you can stay in a tent or a small cabin with a breathtaking view over the valley.
Aurélie took over the business in 2020, transforming the Maison du Haut into an ecolieu. Her philosophy is to live and welcome you while respecting the surrounding nature. Numerous initiatives have been put in place: dry toilets, cooking with local produce, composters, solar panels to heat water for the campsite showers, ... and even a solar oven that you can try out during your stay!
Shared spaces are located in all four corners of the building and its grounds. In summer, enjoy a barbecue on the front terrace. In winter, gather around a fire in one of the fireplaces. And whatever the season, head to the inn's dining room for a bite to eat, or to play one of the many board games.
The setting is also ideal for moments of relaxation. The sound of birdsong and the view over the valley will be conducive to relaxation and mediation.
You can explore the surrounding area by following the GR59 trail which passes right in front of the house. You'll be close to the remote Jura countryside, Poligny, capital of Comté cheese, Château-Chalon, capital of Vin Jaune, and Baume-les-Messieurs, both voted France's most beautiful villages.
The Maison du Haut is also available for private events (birthdays, weddings, cousinades, etc.).
