A charming getaway just 15 minutes from Lyon: Villa Bagatelle, a 1900s bourgeois residence, is listed on the Inventaire supplémentaire des Monuments Historiques for the quality of its design and its exceptional state of preservation. It is one of the very few houses in Lyon from this period to have preserved its park, outbuildings, interior layout and original decor almost intact.
Bernadette and Matthieu, your passionate hosts, will be delighted to help you discover the treasures of this family property, handed down through several generations. La Chambre des Muses": In faux-gold and pale anise hues, this room has a soft, luminous atmosphere. Oak parquet flooring, decorative fireplace, silk curtains: the original elegance has been preserved. Double bed (150 x 200 cm). Kids bed (120 x 60 cm) on request. Large shower room/WC. La Chambre Orientale: furnished with authentic late 19th-century pieces, this room features a majestic bed (170 x 210 cm). The jacquard-wrapped walls interact with the silk brocade of the curtains. Painted woodwork, oak parquet and fireplace. Art Deco bathroom/separate toilet. La Chambre de Madame": One of the most beautiful rooms in the house. Louis XV-inspired decoration revisited by the decorators of 1900, remarkable ceiling moldings. Double bed (170 x 210 cm), bathroom/toilet, dressing room and large private terrace. Traditional breakfast is served in one of the ground-floor lounges: bread, pastries, butter, honey and jams, hot drinks, fruit juices, fresh fruit and cereals. Other breakfast and dinner formulas are available on request (extra charge). French billiards, English garden, shaded terrace and outdoor games are available for a calm and elegant stay. Direct access to the ViaRhôna bike path in front of the gate. Quick access to the center of Lyon via bus 15E in around 20 minutes (Ile Tabard stop 100m away).
Rooms
Room: Chambre des Muses
The "Chambre des Muses" is very luminous, with its faux-gold and light anise hues. The walls are decorated with original paintings by Jocco, an artist who revives the spirit of floral fantasy (Art Nouveau). Solid oak parquet flooring, marble and brass fireplace and silk curtains. A 150 x 200 cm bed: a new standard at the end of the 19th century, reinventing the matrimonial bed rather than the so-called "3-leg" beds (between 110 and 120 cm wide). Furnished with authentic pieces from the best workshops of early 20th-century French designers, some remarkable pieces from the "Collection Chauvin", linen made in France. Office area, high-speed wifi network, 27-inch 4K computer screen with USB-C (Android), Lightning (IOS) and HDMI (on request) connectivity, Armchairs, kettle, carafe of still water, adjustable heating. Italian-style shower on wooden duckboard, hairdryer, towel dryer. Toilet in painted porcelain 1900, French window with shutters and balcony.

The "Orientale" room is heady with red, beige and gold. The jacquart walls play with the silk brocades of the curtains; the woodwork is painted with linseed oil. Solid oak parquet, waxed with beeswax, red and grey marble fireplace, brass trim, blurred glass windows, views of the plane-tree terrace to the south and the lime-tree quincunx and green carpet to the west. This was the bedroom of Pierre Juppet, the house's builder. It features an exceptional "Bonk el koba", an Algerian dome bed. This gilded iron cage, typical of Algiers houses, is extremely rare in France. Two examples are on display in Algerian Museums, only one in France (at Marseille's Mucem). This "fairy bed" is accessed via a footboard (new, top-of-the-range bedding made in France). Art-Deco-inspired bathroom with bathtub. Separate toilet.

The "Chambre de Madame" features an entrance hall with mirror, and a 1.80 x 2.10 double bed. Decorated in beige and blue, in a Louis XV style revisited by 1900 decorators, it is sophisticated, with imposing ceiling moldings nearly 4 meters high. Waxed oak parquet flooring. Mantel in polished brass and white marble, woodwork with flower garlands. The walls are covered with a contemporary scrollwork fabric. The bathroom/wc is in the boudoir spirit: wood panelling, fireplace, glass tile decoration, two 18th-century and Art-Nouveau mirrors, 1 French window, dressing room hung with gilded fabric (French window). Madame's bedroom is accompanied by a large terrace - 30 m2 - to the east. In a nod to the industrial fervor of the early 20th century, the production facilities of France's second-largest metropolis are visible in the distance through the curtain of trees. To the south is a large balcony overlooking the park and plane trees.
