Gîte de la Madeleine

Located on the second stage of the St Jacques de Compostelle pilgrimage route from Le Puy en Velay, the village of Monistrol d'Allier is full of pretty hamlets, and it's at a place called l'Escluzels that Dominique and Cécile open the doors of the gîte de la Madeleine. The gîte shares the same name as the neighboring chapel, from which you'll enjoy an exceptional view over the Allier valley. If you love nature, wide open spaces and peace and quiet, this is the gîte for you! Here, the silence is disturbed only by the songs of birds and the cries of farm animals. From the gîte, you can set off on a walk along the Camino de Santiago, or visit the Chapelle Sainte Madeleine, an astonishing troglodyte chapel. On site: hiking, resting, discovering wild flora and fauna. A little further afield: restaurants, swimming and various white-water sports in the village of Monsitrol d'Allier. Further afield: discover the Allier valley, the town of Le Puy en Velay or Brioude. The owners offer equine accommodation: pasture, hay and paddock available next to the gîte. 10€ per night per animal.

The gîte is set in a large plot with ample parking for several cars.
The entrance to the house is via a staircase leading to the living room, which comprises a fully-equipped kitchen, a cosy sitting room with an old-fashioned fireplace, and a large sitting room. On the same level you'll find a double bedroom (1 bed 140cm) with private shower room and toilet.
An independent toilet completes this level.
On the second floor, you'll find 4 double bedrooms, all with the same layout: 2 90cm beds, private shower room and toilet.
