Situated at the entrance to Mérindol-les-Oliviers, a small village of around 200 inhabitants in the Drôme provençale, this Holiday cottage for two people lets you discover a more discreet Provence, between olive trees, hills and perched villages. The village lies between Mirabel-aux-Baronnies and Buis-les-Baronnies, near Propiac. The Holiday cottage is a good starting point for discovering this part of the Drôme provençale, less visited than other areas but particularly rich in landscapes and hilltop villages. Just a few kilometers away, Nyons comes alive with its Provencal markets, terraces and oil mills. The roads around Vaison-la-Romaine pass through vineyards before reaching the Dentelles de Montmirail or the slopes of the Ventoux, popular with hikers and bikers alike. Food lovers will find a more earthy Provence here: AOP Nyons olive oil, small vineyards, goat's cheese, apricots, lime blossom, lavender honey and farmers' markets in almost every village in summer. Swimming in the river, strolls through olive groves, visits to hilltop villages and evenings under the stars, this is a holiday that's best enjoyed outdoors, to the rhythm of the sun and the mistral wind.
This Holiday cottage for two invites you to slow down and enjoy the Drôme provençale as it is: bright, discreet and deeply rural. At Mérindol-les-Oliviers, the landscape alternates between hills covered with oak and olive trees, lavender fields, dry-stone walls and unobstructed views of the surrounding hills, with Mont Ventoux looming in the distance. The Holiday cottage occupies a separate part of an old stone building. The entrance is on the other side of the owners' house, so you can enjoy peace and quiet. Opposite the gîte are the outbuildings, which will gradually be converted into small tourist accommodations. Outside, a private area with garden furniture allows you to enjoy meals outside, in the shade of the trees, or at the end of the day when the heat dies down. The Piscine, shared with the owners, overlooks the surrounding hills and mountains. The Piscine is open from mid-April to mid-October, weather permitting, unheated, 12x4m and between 1m and 2m5 deep. The interior retains the simple, authentic spirit of old Provencal houses. A bench was made from century-old planks found in the building's attic. The old fireplace, preserved as a decorative element, recalls the history of the place. A small kitchen and dining area let you enjoy the living space at your own pace, without any superfluous items. There is deliberately no television. The small, pleasant bedroom opens directly onto the garden. As for the bathroom, it has kept its original character, with a retro 70s feel, in the spirit of southern family homes. Private parking is located outside the property, just opposite the entrance to the Holiday cottage (3m away). Access is via a gentle slope or a few steps, and there's a bike shelter and shared laundry room with washing machine.
