A peaceful stay in the lavender fields

In the southern Ardèche, this gîte is ideal for lovers of peace and quiet, in the commune of Saint Remèze between the Ardèche Gorges and the Rhône Valley. After leaving the village of Saint Remèze on the small road lined with vineyards and garrigue, you drive 3 kilometers and you've reached the end of the journey. Nestled in the middle of the property (no neighbor within 500 meters) and surrounded by fields of lavender and white oaks, the gîte is located on the second floor of a farmhouse. There's no air-conditioning here, but the stone walls provide excellent insulation against the summer heat, and the small stream running through the meadow provides welcome coolness at night (no swimming possible). There's plenty to do: you can of course enjoy the famous siesta in the shade of the hundred-year-old plane trees, listening to the cicadas sing. But there are also many caves and museums to visit, as well as hiking and biking trails. The Ardèche gorges and the Pont d'Arc are a must, as well as the 719-meter-high Dent de Rez, the highest point in the southern Ardèche region. The view from the summit is a feast for the eyes, with exceptional views over the Rhône valley and the Cévennes. You'll also want to pay a visit to the lavender distillery, the only one of its kind in the département. The gite is located on the first floor and comprises a living room with sitting area and integrated kitchenette, 1 bedroom (1 bed 140x200), 1 shower room with WC. Covered east-facing terrace on first floor. During your stay, the owner, an astronomy enthusiast, will be happy to share his passion for the stars with you (this is an ideal location for observing the sky and its constellations, as there is no light pollution at night).
