As you wander through the narrow streets of Laurac-en-Vivarais, discover La Maison des Papés, a former family home that has been completely and carefully renovated, where the charm of authenticity blends harmoniously with contemporary comfort.
Steeped in history and memories, this home has retained all its character while offering amenities tailored to today’s expectations. Exposed stone, fine materials, bright spaces, and warm decor create a welcoming atmosphere perfect for relaxation and spending time together.
Several generations once lived here, so the owners conceived this ambitious project to divide the property into two sections: one side to be converted into a large-capacity holiday cottage (up to 15 people) and the other into their second home.
A massive renovation began in 2023. Inside, everything was gutted—everything except the magnificent period cement tiles, the majestic staircase, and the stunning stone-vaulted cellars.
You’ll find period furniture and tools incorporated throughout the decor of this place.
The owners are also deeply committed to an eco-friendly approach: local artisans, French products, solar panels, a rainwater collection tank, and more.


The holiday cottage is spread over two floors, accessible via an outdoor staircase or an elevator. Access to the property is shared with the owners’ second home, though each has its own entrance. The owners, of course, never stay at the same time as their guests. The property remains entirely private for guests during their stay.
On the first floor, you’ll find the dining area with a built-in kitchen, the living room, a separate restroom, a pantry, a junior suite that can accommodate up to 4 people with a first bedroom (160-cm bed), an adjoining bathroom with a shower and toilet, and a second bedroom (two 90-cm bunk beds). On this level, there is a beautiful terrace accessible from the kitchen, perfect for breakfast or meals around the plancha and barbecue.
On the second floor, a junior suite that can accommodate 3 people, consisting of a first bedroom (160-cm bed), an adjoining bathroom with a shower, a separate toilet, and a second bedroom (1 90-cm bed), two suites, each equipped with a 160-bed and a private bathroom and toilet, and a dormitory with 4 90-beds (including 2 bunk beds) and a private bathroom and toilet. All living areas and bedrooms are air-conditioned; 5 bedrooms have TVs.
Outdoor spaces designed for all ages: a game room in a vaulted cellar with a ping-pong table, foosball table, air hockey table, and kids’ games.
A pétanque court set up under a vaulted passageway with a relaxation area. On sunny days, you can enjoy the private Piscine* and its fully enclosed garden. A shaded terrace under the pool house is perfect for relaxing or reading.

Located in the heart of the village, the house lets you fully enjoy the relaxed Ardèche lifestyle. Just a few steps away, you’ll find local shops (bakery, butcher/delicatessen, bar-Restaurant, newsstand, hair salon, post office, and a produce stand with local goods). A locked garage is available for two vehicles, motorcycles, and bicycles. Two other public parking lots (free) are less than 100 m from the holiday cottage.
Designed to welcome families and friends, the house offers comfortable and inviting living spaces where everyone can gather after a day of exploring or simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Here, time seems to slow down, inviting you to savor every moment—whether spent socializing, exploring, or relaxing.
From La Maison des Papés, set out to discover the treasures of southern Ardèche: the Ardèche Gorges, charming villages (Labeaume, Balazuc, Vogüé…), the crystal-clear rivers (La Baume, the Ardèche, and the Chassezac), the hiking trails, and the many natural sites for which the region is renowned.
