Chez la Nonna

Ideal location for a country break in the southern Ardèche.

You're in the commune of Saint Jean Le Centenier, a small village on the Aubenas-Montélimar road. The location is perfect for exploring the Ardèche Méridionale. Within a 25km radius, you'll have the choice between discovering the Ardèche Gorges, strolling through the narrow streets of the characterful villages of Balazuc or Saint Montant, admiring the vestiges of the past at the castle and Museal d'Alba La Romaine or hiking the Coiron massif. For a refreshing dip, the Ardèche and Ibie rivers offer superb bathing spots.

Back to peace and quiet at the "Chez La Nonna" gîte. Far from the hustle and bustle, Céline and Julien, artist and free-range pig farmer, welcome you to their property (no nuisance, as the animals are a 10-minute walk away). The fully renovated accommodation adjoins their home. An outside staircase leads up to the gîte from the shared courtyard. You arrive on a large south-facing terrace with an unobstructed view of the village of St Jean le Centenier. The interior is cosy and tastefully decorated. First there's a fully-equipped kitchen with a table for sharing meals, followed by a separate living room. The two bedrooms are each equipped with a double bed (140cm) and a single bed (90cm). One of the bedrooms has a private bathroom with separate toilet. A second bathroom with shower and WC is also available. Enjoy a siesta or barbecue in the shade of the trees, in the small private garden at the bottom of the gîte.

There is private parking, a basketball hoop and a small soccer pitch. You can also go hiking from the gîte.

And what better way to discover a region than with good local produce? The owners offer farm sales of their products and share their best local producers' addresses with you.
