Saint-Mihiel and Abbaye Saint-Michel

Explore the town of Saint-Mihiel, birthplace of Ligier Richier, the greatest Renaissance artist from Lorraine who left numerous works in Meuse particularly at Saint-Mihiel, including the Sepulchre in the church of Saint-Etienne.
Visit the Abbaye Saint-Michel de Saint-Mihiel which was founded in the Carolingian era. The first manuscript books were collected from this time onwards in the outbuildings of the church.
Over the centuries, their number increased, particularly with the invention of the printing press in the 15th century. After being moved several times, the collection was magnificently installed around 1775 in rooms especially fitted out for the purpose.

Don’t miss : Saint-Mihiel Saillant, a vestige of the Great War, Musée Raymond Poincaré at Sampigny and the walk around the Vents des Forêts, an open-air contemporary art museum.
