Le Grand Bassin - Petit gîte

Halfway between Toulouse and the beaches of the Mediterranean, on the edge of the Canal du Midi, a Unesco World Heritage site, discover this charming former lock keeper's house located in the heart of Castelnaudary with a panoramic view of its large basin. With family or friends, the gîte sleeps a maximum of 15 people, ideal for a group. Le Grand Bassin is the ideal place for a relaxing holiday in an idyllic and peaceful setting. On site, you will have a large private terrace with garden furniture and barbecue to enjoy your meals during the summer. As part of the environmental awareness and sustainable development programme, there are chickens for the children's enjoyment but also for their role in recycling and composting. If you wish to rent bicycles for beautiful walks in the region and along the Canal, you can do so with a professional partner. A bicycle room with 15 places is available in the gîte if you wish to bring your own (Label Accueil Vélo). Thanks to its ideal location, you will be able to discover all the jewels of the region within half an hour's drive: the medieval city of Carcassonne or Fanjeaux, the magnificent natural landscapes of the Montagne Noire or the Lauragais, the Abbey of Saint-Papoul or the local gastronomy (cassoulet, wines..). Shops and restaurants are nearby. Fenced parking on the property. 2 rooms are available for you to choose upon arrival.


The gîte has a small entrance hall on the ground floor with direct access to the first bedroom which has a double bed (2x80) and two bunk beds (90) with an adjoining private bathroom (shower, washbasin and WC). A laundry room with washing machine. An independent WC. A large living room with a fully equipped kitchen and a dining room with tables, sofa and a fireplace. On the first floor, a bedroom with a double bed (2x80) and a bunk bed for 2 persons with its own private bathroom (shower, WC, washbasin) and a TV. A third bedroom with a double bed and a private bathroom (shower, WC and washbasin). A fourth bedroom with a 160cm bed (80x2) and a double bunk bed with a private balcony overlooking the canal, a private bathroom (shower, WC and washbasin) and a TV. The last two rooms are equipped with a bed 160 (80x2) each as well as a private and adjoining shower room in each room (shower, WC and washbasin) and a TV also for the 2 rooms. WIFI connection throughout the gîte. All-inclusive services (sheets, towels and end-of-stay cleaning). Pets are accepted for an extra charge during the stay.
