MUCEM
Mucem – Museum of Mediterranean Civilisations
Mucem – Museum of Mediterranean Civilisations
Mucem, the first 21st century national museum devoted to Mediterranean civilisations, opened in Marseille on 7 June 2013 and soon became its most visited attraction.
It is situated at the harbour entrance on breakwater J4 and inside Fort Saint-Jean, two places which are highly symbolic of the current development of the city and its history.
Floating between sea and sky, Mucem represents a major outward-looking project for the Mediterranean as a whole, bringing together both sides of this vast sea.
What to see and do at MUCEM ?

J4 pier has a children’s play area, so if you’re visiting Marseille with the family, little ones will appreciate a little detour !
Mucem is even more spectacular by night, and the sight of the blue-lit building with the Villa Méditerranée next to it and Fort Saint-Jean in the background is simply unforgettable.
Open every day except Tuesday : 11.00 – 19.00.
