The Ardennes, the only département that was totally occupied during World War One, to many war memorials. Take a tour of the battlegrounds at Bazeilles. The battleground landscapes (the woods on the Marfée hill, the butte of Stonne or the concrete walls of the fort of Villy-la-Ferté) offer a moment of history. It is possible to take a guided tour in a Jeep.
For more light-hearted enjoyment you will be able to discover the Parc Argonne Découverte and its wolves in Olizy Primat. You will also be able to enjoy a cycle tour in the Meuse valley, along the Trans-Ardennes walking and cycling trail or you might prefer riding or walking in the regional nature park of the Ardennes or on the heights of Fumay. Cruise lovers will be able to sail from Givet, along the Meuse.
You will enjoy the architectural heritage of the Ardennes: the fortress of Sedan and also the half- timbered houses at Revin and the fortified churches at Thiérarche. Do not forget to program you stay during the puppet festival at Charleville Mézières and do not forget to savour the famous Jambon des Ardennes or the white boudin of Rethel.
