FIMU
For music lovers the Festival International de Musique Universitaire or FIMU is definitely one to note in the diary. This intergenerational festival has something for everyone !
For over 30 years, music from around the world has taken centre stage in Belfort for 5 days at Whitsun for a festival organized by the town of Belfort and students. It features more than 1,700 musicians from 40 different countries. Every style of music is represented : classical music, new music, jazz, contemporary music brass bands, choirs, opera, world music, etc.. The festival can be the opportunity for everyone to discover traditional Indian music, for example. There are always unexpected surprises, like ingenious music from Burkina Faso played on amazing percussion instruments made from recycled objects

The 117,000 festival goers can discover music they have never heard before. All the performances are of excellent quality and the proximity of different concert venues means that festival goers can wander from one concert to another, which makes the festival so original ! This musical kaleidoscope of around 200 free concerts takes place on 20 stages spread around the Old Town and New Town of Belfort.
FIMU is also a total concept in which cultural and musical discovery are aimed at everyone. ‘FIMU des Enfants’ for children has special entertainment for young festival goers featuring creative activities, musical workshops and games, much to their delight !
FIMU is an absolute must which enables absolutely everyone to enjoy a super musical interlude in the ‘Cité du Lion’.
FIMU takes good care of the environment and of festival goers
