Deauville

Elegant restaurants, beautiful sunsets over the sea, ‘Les Planches’ sea front boardwalk, chic shops and top-of-the-range accommodation make it the perfect place for a romantic getaway.
For groups of friends seeking a stylish seaside resort, Deauville is the place to be. Its full range of leisure activities and outings includes a day out sailing aboard a yacht, followed by a seafood platter and an evening at the casino. There are numerous places to enjoy a drink facing the sea, cocktail bars and other clubs.
Enjoy a classic family seaside holiday at Deauville ! Go swimming in the sea, relax on a colourful deckchair, learn to sail, walk along the Côte Fleurie and have a home-made ice cream as you stroll along ‘Les Planches’ sea front boardwalk.
Deauville has been a luxury resort since the beginning of the 1800s. Its distinctive architecture has forged its character like the sea front villas dating from the Belle Epoque. In the background, the Impressionist movement of the 1800s reminds us that the resort often inspired great artists of the time like Eugène Boudin. Impressionism is still celebrated in Normandy today at the Festival Normandie Impressionniste.
Deauville its beach and racecourse on the beautiful Côte Fleurie !

People come to Deauville first and foremost for its mythical beach, seafront walk, beach huts and, of course, the famous coloured parasols which are made, maintained and titivated in Deauville itself ! Stroll along ‘Les Planches’ seafront walk and admire the beautiful half-timbered villas including the very well-known Villa Strassburger built in 1907 for Baron Henri de Rothschild. The Office de Tourisme runs a 2-hour walk to discover the history and splendid architecture of Deauville.
People also come to Deauville to have fun and there is certainly no shortage of leisure activities. Sailing lessons, regattas, golf lessons and the American Film Festival make for an eclectic schedule! Make a date at Deauville-La Touques race course to watch horse racing or polo matches between the best teams in the world. After a pleasant swim in the sea and a lie on the beach, it’s time to sit at one of the seaside pavement cafés or restaurants to admire the colourful sunset. A stunning sight.
End the day on a festive note at a jazz concert or on the wild dance floor at a nightclub in Deauville or Trouville. To enjoy the surrounding countryside, there’s nothing like a walk in Pays d’Auge through rolling countryside, forests and along the banks of the River Touques or a visit to one of the many stud farms which give the area its unique character.
Deauville is at the heart of the Côte Fleurie. For a little variety, go swimming at the fine sandy beaches of Villers-sur-Mer and Blonville-sur-Mer. Blonville-sur-Mer is a quiet seaside resort nicknamed the « paradis des enfants (children’s paradise) » ! Villers-sur-Mer is an elegant seaside village, well-known for its ‘Vaches Noires’ cliffs, its sheltered beach and Paléospace, a museum devoted to dinosaurs. Other pretty villages and seaside resorts which are well worth seeing include Pont l’Evêque, Villerville, Bénerville-sur-Mer, Touques and, a little further afield, Cabourg.
The people of Normandy are very fond of Sunday outings to Deauville and along the Côte Fleurie. They stop at Deauville for lunch by the beach then have a walk along the coast to enjoy the views and the leafy inland countryside. These Sunday outings to Deauville have a distinct holiday atmosphere !
