Condrieu
In the south of the department, nature reigns supreme and expresses itself in many ways.
On the steep slopes, the prestigious vineyards of Côte-Rôtie and Condrieu dominate the Rhône river. These delicate wines are to be savored with Rigottes de Condrieu, a small goat cheese made from raw milk. On the other side of the Rhône, the neighboring city of Vienne, will enchant you with its historical and cultural heritage, and will make you travel through the great periods of French history.
Condrieu and Ampuis

Two highly renowned appellations of controlled origin are produced in the south of Lyon: Côtes Rôties, mainly concentrated around the town of Ampuis and Condrieu. While strolling in the vineyards, one can realize the peculiarities of this soil with quality soil and grape variety: very steep and sunny grounds. The vines, erected on pieces of wood, are planted on steeply sloping terraces. The angle of these slopes is such that it prohibits any recourse to modern machinery: manual labor (pruning, harvesting, etc.) remains the only possible method of cultivation.
The best way, to discover the region of Condrieu and Ampuis, is to visit a wine cellar to taste and buy wine directly from the producers. After making an appointment, meet there to chat with the winegrowers, listen to them talk about their wine, taste it, choose your bottles ...
