We felt "at home"
5/5My wife and I spent two nights at Le Logis de Lunel during our two-week tour of Brittany. Chantal and Hervé are excellent hosts and made us feel "at home". Lunel is not a luxury chamber d'hote. The guest rooms are basic, but are clean and have all the necessities. The bed was comfortable and had a top sheet and a blanket instead of a duvet cover, so it was much easier to control your temperature in bed by uncovering layers. We found this arrangement much better than the duvet covers we found in the other 5 chambre d'hotes we stayed in during this trip. The common room for the 5 guest rooms was large and included a microwave, kettle, and a variety of coffee and teas.
We enjoyed table d'hote one night. We were not expecting the multi-course feast that Chantal prepared, from an aperitif with an amuse-bouche, to entree, to Chantal's home-grown chicken, to an excellent cheese platter, salad, and, finally, by desert. All with white and red wine as desired. We particularly appreciated that we ate family-style with Chantal and Hervé. At other table d'hotes we were waited on by the host, as if we were in a restaurant. This seems to be a change since we first started staying at chamber d'hotes over 30 years ago. Getting to know the hosts a bit over dinner is one of the main reasons we enjoy staying in Chambre d'Hotes with table d'hote instead of in hotels. While we struggled with our rudimentary French and Chantal and Hervé with their basic English, we managed to carry on a pleasant conversation, even if we needed to resort to French-English dictionaries and Google Translate at times.
We spent a pleasant day touring the near-by town of Chateaugiron. Vitre is another town worth visiting, about a 45 minute drive away. It's a relatively easy 25 minute drive from Lunel to Rennes airport.

Nous avons été ravis de faire votre connaissance et d'avoir passé une soirée en table d'hôtes, Malgré notre faible niveau d'anglais, nous avons pû converser. Nous espérons peut-être vous revoir, vous qui avez l'habitude de visiter la Bretagne et bien d'autres régions françaises. Cette année le mois d'octobre a été très ensoleillé ce qui vous a permis de faire de belles balades. Le logis de Lunel est prêt à nouveau prêt à vous recevoir dans notre belle région.
