Très agréable séjour à la Gélinais
5/5Nous avons beaucoup apprécié notre séjour à La Gélinais. Le logement est très bien équipé, propre et situé dans un environnement calme et enchanteur. La maison est également proche d'un sentier de forêt. Les propriétaires sont très accueillants et arrangeants, ils ont tout fait pour nous mettre à l'aise et se sont montrés aux petits soins pour nous. La literie est également très bonne. Nous recommandons vivement ce gîte et y retournerons avec plaisir

5/5Les propriétaires sont très accueillants et disponibles et aiment l'histoire de la région. Nous avons eu le privilège de visiter la Chapelle à côté du gîte et de connaître l'histoire des chatelains du site.
Beaucoup de gentillesse et de bienveillance autour de ses propriétaires, et un gîte impeccable.

Lovely countryside location with lots of space
4/5We really enjoyed our stay at La Gelinais. It was a good location to visit many of the important sites in Brittany (and even Normandy) although, because it is in the countryside, you will have to do quite a bit of driving. There was good shopping close by in Fougeres (and a smaller shop even closer in SAINT-GERMAIN-EN-COGLES). We were very fortunate to have good weather for our entire two-week stay and enjoyed sitting outside at the end of the day with a glass of wine. The property offers real privacy and is wonderfully quiet. While the owners did not speak English, we managed communication with our limited school French. They took the time to take us through their home when we arrived to show us how everything worked. They also left us some gorgeous fresh tomatoes and some rhubarb jam. We knew we could contact them if needed. They were very hospitable. During our stay, the owner dropped by to see if we wanted to visit the inside of the neighbouring chapel as she was preparing it for its Saints Day. It was very kind for her to think about us. For the most part, the gite was well-stocked with plates, cutlery etc. Since we cooked every evening at the gite, it would have been helpful to have more knives to chop vegetables (there was only one large and one small). and more wooden spoons (there was only one). We have stayed in many gites in the past. This is the first one where there were no basic essentials included (we had to go out and buy salt and pepper, sugar, tea, laundry soap etc). Also, it would have been nice to have some soap and shampoo to get us through the first days, as shops are closed on a Sunday, and one normally arrives late Saturday. This was the first place we have stayed where there was no hair dryer. These things were just a bit surprising and did not impact our overall stay, which was very positive.
