The largest resort in Isère is waiting for you !
The resort of Alpe d’Huez is in Oisans, a rugged high-altitude area with magnificent scenery, just like its neighbour Meije at 3,984m altitude and the Romanche Valley, virtually untouched by the hand of man. The resort, between Grenoble and Briancon, is very popular with families for its wide range of activities. It is on one of the sunniest slopes of the region benefitting from an average of 300 days of sunshine every year which has earned it the nickname of ""l'île au soleil (sunshine island)"". A marvellous destination to explore at your leisure ! With the weather set fair and excellent facilities, you have everything you need to encounter the 250km of slopes and 10,000 hectares of forests and paths.
A sporty, family ski resort
Alpe d'Huez is one of the largest ski resorts in France with no fewer than 135 pistes with a wide range of difficulties and surroundings. From the Glacier de Sarenne high above the resort, ski down the 16km longest piste in the world or slalom through woods and mountain scenery following ""Le Tunnel"" piste noire. Although some slopes are very technically challenging, the ski area has plenty of areas open to children, beginners and spectators as well as a snowpark for freestyle activities. In summer, go walking or mountain biking through very different pastoral scenery or go summer sledding on the alpine coaster.
The best of mountain hospitality

The reputation of Alpe d'Huez is not only due to its incredible ski area as once the ski lifts close for the night, it’s time for ‘après-ski’ activities ! The friendly, fun resort has numerous shops and restaurants to eat after a busy day on the slopes. Every winter Alpe d'Huez organises ‘Apéros et fondues by night’, a fantastic mix of torchlight parades, cocktails, night-time skiing and, of course, fondues ! There’s nothing better than a mountain speciality dish to recharge the batteries after a day of thrills and freezing temperatures. Tartiflette, fondue savoyarde, raclette… amazingly delicious !
There is also a large choice of activities including aerial sports, horse riding and white water sports as well as numerous activities for children. In fact the resort has the label ""Famille Plus"", a guarantee of its family-friendly activities and facilities.
